04/25/07 - - The grain industry is becoming alarmed that there are some new hybrids of corn being sold this year that contain Agrisure RW (MIR 604), which is unapproved for sale to Japan, Mexico and other foreign countries.
Ethanol plants are already putting language in their contracts stating that they will not accept these hybrids due to the possibility of the by-products being contaminated. Most in the trade seem fearful that this could become another "Starlink" saga. Therefore nearly all are saying that they will not accept it until it is approved.
Midwest Farmers Cooperative will not accept corn during the 2007 harvest containing these hybrids unless they become approved, and we will also be adding this to our contracts.
